FEMALE GRANT
According to a report by Oliver Wyman in 2021, women make only 5% of pilots and 3% of maintenance technicians in aviation globally. The Women in Corporate Aviation (WCA) in 2019 state that only 4.6% of leadership positions in aviation are held by women. Also, in 2018, a survey by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC) revealed that women represent 22% of the total workforce in Business Aviation, but only 10% of the flight crew and 4% of the technical staff.
However, despite the slight improvement, these statistics show that women are still underrepresented in most roles in aviation, especially the technical and operational fields. NIA seeks to increase female representation in the aviation industry in Africa in line with the IATA 25 by 2025 global initiative for the aviation sector. NIA is committed to supporting women pursue aviation roles and careers with the provision of funding through grants.
Apply for our various grants aimed at supporting girls and women seeking to pursue a life and career in the aviation industry.
