The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, CON, FCIArb (UK), has confirmed that preparations are well underway for the inaugural Nigeria International Airshow (NIA), which will take place in Abuja from December 2–4, 2025. The update was shared through a statement issued by Odutayo Oluseyi, Head of Press and Public Relations.
At a recent engagement in Abuja on Thursday, November 13, 2025, the Minister—represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni—held discussions with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun. During the meeting, the Permanent Secretary highlighted the importance of forming a strong collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service, particularly to ease import processes and enable duty waivers for temporarily imported aircraft, technologies, and exhibition materials expected for the event.
He emphasized that the upcoming Airshow represents a significant stride in Nigeria’s ambition to strengthen its aviation and aerospace sector and position the country as a major hub within Africa. This aligns with the theme of the event, “Advancing the Future of Aviation and Aerospace in Africa,” designed to promote innovation, attract investment, and deepen cooperation among industry players across the continent and internationally.
The event is expected to bring together key global and regional stakeholders, offering opportunities for networking, business exploration, and knowledge exchange. Exhibitors will showcase modern aircraft, cutting-edge aerospace innovations, and specialized services from top international companies.
In his response, Mr. Wale Edun expressed appreciation for the initiative and commended the Ministry’s efforts in organizing a milestone event of this scale. He encouraged continued collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service to ensure the smooth processing of aircraft and equipment for the Airshow, describing the project as a timely effort to highlight Nigeria’s capabilities and leadership within the global aviation and aerospace landscape.
